Still the same after 20 years. Food and service is still as good even after 20 years. One of our favourite places when back on holiday. The food is authentic and is prepared extremely well. Would highly recommend it to anybody looking for a decent meal. Flavour is as close as you can get to the local food in Japan.

I’ve been here multiple times and it’s never disappointed. The sashimi is usually great, though today’s was a bit less firm than usual. The soft shell crab salad was crispy as always, and the soba is fantastic. Highly recommended. Prices are a little on the high side, but overall worth it.

We had only cooked food. Generally ok. But I wouldn’t recommend the yakitori. We had chicken and wagyu yakitori. Both were dry and bland. It’s the first time I’ve ever eaten a dry wagyu yakitori actually.

This authentic Japanese restaurant is one of the early pioneers in town, renowned for its quality food and exceptional customer service. Although the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the cuisine justifies the cost. Beyond the usual array of sashimi and other dishes, I ventured to try the pig trotters stewed in cooking wine. While palatable, it didn’t quite match up to my expectations and I found myself preferring the Thai version of this dish. Despite this, the overall dining experience was delightful, with each dish bursting with flavor. The staff were both efficient and courteous, adding to the pleasant atmosphere. For those seeking top-notch quality and who don’t mind spending a bit more, this Japanese restaurant in Penang is a must-visit.

Kirishima Japanese restaurant is located in Cititel hotel in Georgetown, Penang. Food is good, staff are attentive and nice ambience for business and family gatherings. “I love unagi’ set is our favourite order. The sashimi is always fresh too. Highly recommend if you are looking for authentic Japanese food.

Perhaps one of the best Japanese restaurants in the heart of Penang. Ideally located along Penang Road and inside the bowels of Cititel Penang, Kirishima boasts an exquisite assortment of Japanese delicacies. Prices range from affordable, to mid-range, and fine-dining levels, but the food is as good and as tender as they come. Loved the wagyu beef and the avocado-based sushi. The sashimi was a wonder and so was the garlic rice. My kids loved the rice so much they each had a second helping, and that is saying a lot! Thanks for the wonderful night, we all enjoyed ourselves! Best Japanese cuisine we’ve tried so far, and that is saying something.
